No Season 2 for the competition series.
April 22, 2025
It is being reported that The Summit has been cancelled by CBS after one season. The news comes four months after the competition series wrapped its 10-episode freshman run. The show premiered last fall but ultimately failed to garner a sizeable audience in its post-Survivor time slot.
Based on the Australian series of the same name, the show follows 16 strangers as they embark on an epic journey through the treacherous New Zealand Alps in an attempt to reach the peak of a distant, towering mountain. With their backpacks containing an equal share of $1 million, the group must traverse an exhausting distance in just 14 days in order to win the cash they are carrying. Everybody works together to tackle the dangerous terrain, unforgiving Antarctic winds, pulse-racing challenges and gut-wrenching eliminations on their way to the peak.

I started watching this show because I though it would be like the eco race. When they were giving the rules they told the participants that they had a number of days to make it to the summit and had to hit all the check points and they would only get the money if all made it to the top. The next thing you don't have to make the check points, people get left behind and eliminated and there is a survivor style elimination. That was it for me. I jumped to the last episode just to see what would happen and I got to say it was disappointing.
So I am glad is was cancelled..

I agree with this decision.

These reality survivor type shows have gone too far. I'm not surprised it was cancelled.

As always.. US tries to remake a successful NZ/AU series and screws it up. They cast HORRIBLE people in this US remake.... No wonder it failed.

Great idea
But this show was DEI galore, rewarding the weaker players and penalizing the stronger one, especially the stronger men who were voted out because they did so well..
Same bs that Extracted on Fox, reward the weak.

The show should have rewarded people for working together, but it did the opposite. The voting system was horrible. The only positive was Manu Bennett. He was a very charismatic host. I met him a few years ago and he was gracious and friendly.

I'm not surprised... the show was terrible. The premise sounded interesting but the execution failed on so many levels.
The cast was awful, with most of them focused on forming alliances instead of just working together to make it to the summit. Plus the show made it seem like they would struggle to make it to each checkpoint but you could tell there was no way they'd actually fail to make it to the end in each episode.

Maybe more of The Amazing Race can fill in that slot?
