No Season 2 for the prequel drama.
August 22, 2025
It is being reported that Dexter: Original Sin has been cancelled by Paramount+ with Showtime. The news is somewhat surprising, as the drama was reported to have been renewed for a second season back in April. It's the first significant programming move by the new leadership team at Showtime, which has pivoted to focus more on 'Dexter: Resurrection,' which is close to wrapping its freshman run.
A prequel to 'Dexter,' 'Original Sin' is set in 1991 Miami, where Dexter Morgan is a student with bloodthirsty urges that he can no longer ignore. With guidance from his father, Harry, he adopts a code designed to help him channel his inner darkness by finding and killing people who deserve to be eliminated from society without alerting law enforcement. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

The subject of serial killers is so worn out (ID) that even a fantasy novel like Dexter is tired as well. (just like the novels)

Maaaaan, this is some bulllllsheeet. That show was SO well done (which is insanely rare for spinoffs, and was one of the best cast shows I’ve ever seen. It was almost scary how well they played the younger versions of the original cast.

Im gutted, i loved the show, I didn't think I would, but I started watching it and I was hooked within the first few minutes. Probably little point in me getting into resurrection now, so ill skip this one. I hoped both shows would run for a few years

This is very disappointing since I was ecstatic when they renewed it for season 2 back in April. I am enjoying Resurrection, so much better than New Blood. Like a previous commenter said, they better be canceling this because they are doing more seasons of Resurrection. I would like to see both shows continue. Have Original Sin one year and Resurrection the next year so we have a Dexter show every year.

Weird! I don't see a reason why the prequel and sequel couldnt both air.

@brenda or maybe it was past cadet asthma's bedtime and he had it cancelled.
Or maybe it was just bad.

>WTF?! Let me guess....another reality show will take its place. SMH...
Some people are clueless... Showtime doesn't run reality shows. Never has... I think your mp3 is stuck.
