It is being reported by Variety that Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft will be ending after its upcoming second season. The news comes three months before the animated series returns for its now-final run on December 11.

Based on the iconic video game series, the show picks up after the events of the game's Survivor trilogy (Tomb Raider; Rise of the Tomb Raider; Shadow of the Tomb Raider), following globetrotting heroine Lara Croft as she continues her iconic adventurers exploring ancient mysteries and looking to uncover lost truths across breathtaking and dangerous destinations.

While Season 1 served as an origin story, the second season will aim to follow Lara's journey from being a rookie to becoming the icon fans know today.

Season 2 will find Lara discovering a trail of stolen African Orisha masks, leading her to join forces with her best friend Sam to retrieve the precious artifacts. This new adventure will take her around the globe as she delves deeper into the hidden secrets of Orisha history, dodges the machinations of a dangerous and enigmatic billionaire who wants the masks for herself, while discovering these relics contain dark secrets and a power that defies logic. Power that may, in fact, be divine.
