The sci-fi drama will return for Season 2.
November 11, 2025
FX announced today that Alien: Earth has been renewed for a second season. The news comes less than two months after the sci-fi drama wrapped its 8-episode freshman run.
"It has been our great privilege to work with Noah (Hawley) for more than a decade on some of FX's best and biggest shows, and we are thrilled to extend our partnership well into the future," said FX chairman John Landgraf in a statement. "Noah never stops surprising us with truly original stories — and his unique ability to bring them to vibrant life as a director and producer as well as writer makes him extraordinary. We can't wait to get to work on the next season of 'Alien: Earth,' as well as some equally exciting future projects in advanced development."
"I'm thrilled that this expanded deal opens the door to new opportunities across all of Disney Entertainment Television," said Hawley. "FX has always supported bold, character-driven storytelling. From the very beginning with Fargo, they've encouraged me to take creative risks and follow the story wherever it leads. I'm grateful to continue exploring the world of Alien: Earth alongside our partners, cast, and crew as we begin the next chapter."
The first TV series in the 'Alien' franchise, the show is set in the year 2120, where the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But things change when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named "Wendy" marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani's spaceship collides into Prodigy City, "Wendy" and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.

Love the movies (minus the latest Gen Z cringe fest), but couldn't get into this show. Too slow and found the actors annoying.

It is sometimes badly written , often not on track with the movie series dogma...but the effects are good . In spite of writing issues like no one is monitoring the lab so the monsters can escape, Or the robot girl can speak alien because, well she can..it is still worth watching overall

Great news. I've long been a fan of Alien/Aliens and the TV series has been quality so far. Hopefully it has enough of a run to give it a proper ending.

I just hope it doesn't take 2 years to get season two on air as seems to be a problem with other series currently streaming. Noah Hawley spoke of his 3 season dream in a pod caste for the show as good as this series turned out be I image he as already formulated a 3rd season with a conclusion. At least that is my hope, maybe this will open the door to expanding the franchise into other series. For Alien Earth the future looks bright. Thank you FX

Great show! I did not love the ending, because I wanted an ending. The show was so good, I worry season 2 will not be able to keep up. Prove me wrong FX.

The second season was locked in before the first season even aired. It's already been announced that Sigourney Weaver will be joining the second season. This is old news

Whether it was renewed or not didn't matter much to me, but I like to know if it's cancelled, then I can take a show off of the "My List" category within a given Appletv app.
