NBC announced today that Destination X has been renewed for a second season. The news comes seven months after travel competition series wrapped its freshman run as the #1 new show of the summer, reaching over 20 million viewers across all platforms.

"'Destination X' is returning with the world as our playground to deliver new unforgettable adventures that will keep viewers guessing every step of the way," said Sharon Vuong, EVP, Unscripted Programming, NBC. "With the incomparable Jeffrey Dean Morgan back at the helm, season two promises to deliver surprising twists and push boundaries even further."

"'Destination X' pushes the boundaries of what unscripted television can deliver with a truly global experience that feels cinematic, exhilarating and unlike anything else on TV," said Toby Gorman, President, Universal Television Alternative Studio. "With this new season, we're dialing everything up even more, taking both the contestants and the audience on adventures that are bigger, bolder and completely unexpected."

Based on the award-winning Belgian format, the show features 10 strangers traveling together on a blacked-out bus to unknown locations around Europe and attempt to figure out where they are. To do this, they can win clues by using their knowledge of pop culture, history, geography, and observational skills - earning them an all-important advantage. They can choose whether to go it alone or team up as they strategize their way through shifting alliances and unexpected adversaries, unsure of who they can trust. At the end of each episode, designated contestants must decide where they think they are by placing an X on a location in the Map Room, and whoever's guess is furthest away goes home. The eventual winner takes home a grand prize of $250,000.
