The streamer reverses its renewal decision.
July 30, 2026
It is being reported by Variety that Wonder Man has been cancelled at Disney+. The news comes as a surprise, as the Marvel superhero drama received a second season renewal just four months ago. The reason for the change of heart is not known, and word is that a writers' room for Season 2 was never opened.
The series follows Simon Williams, an aspiring Hollywood actor struggling to get his career off the ground. When he meets Trevor Slattery, an actor whose biggest roles are behind him, Simon learns that legendary director Von Kovak is remaking the superhero film "Wonder Man." These two actors at opposite ends of their careers both pursue life-changing roles in the film.

This isn't Marvel Studios, it's Disney. They will gladly push out umpteen Star Wars shows no one wants, but support a good show that fans actually liked? I blame a lot of the "mid" Marvel movies on them, because they keep making changes to make sure their movies can play in China and not offend their investors.
If not for Ryan Coogler and Destin Daniel Cretton, the MCU would be on life support.

@Pat
"Marvel did some awful woke crap" …. At least it didn’t do January 6th like the right wingers did. "Some people seem.obsessed with everything being about skin color" … yeah right wingers who use the code word "woke."

The reason was low ratings. But the show was very good. Marvel did some awful woke crap but this was not that At all .. Some people seem.obsessed with everything being about skin color but this is marvel losing money all over the place. . I do wish they would have given this show a chance.woth one more season.

Chris you’re just as bad as the other side. Your saying a studio that replaced a white man with a black man (Captain America) or made an African nation the most powerful in the world giving them 2 movies (and a new king for more movies) or had the choice to make Nick Fury not Sam Jackson but did is racist. Instead of brining race into maybe talk about why you think a studio needs to spend millions on an underperforming show.

I do not think Marvel or Disney hates black people. From the point of view of a mixed Asian/Black female, Marvel represents very well. Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson aka Cap/Falcon. Chadwick Bosman as Black Panther. Mike Colter as Luke Cage. All of Wakanda, too many to list. Blade, Storm, War Machine, Misty Knight, Bishop. That is all from the top of my head.
P.S. I think Chris may have misspoke. Chris should give us a little more next time.

Had it in my holds list. Haven’t watched it. Guess I won’t bother.

Chris, you're an idiot. Don't bring race into this. The show was average at best.

Thank goodness! This was one of the worst Disney shows I have ever seen! As a Marvel comic book fan, and Wonder Man being one of my favorite characters, I was truly disappointed in the writing and how Wonder Man was portrayed. There was no real origin on how he got his powers, and the character (not the actor) had no redeeming qualities. I am so glad Disney cancelled this show. Hopefully the funds will go towards better quality productions.
