Peacock has set a premiere date for Crystal Lake, its upcoming prequel series to the Friday the 13th franchise. All eight episodes of the horror drama will be released on Thursday, October 15.
The series has been a long time in the making. Originally ordered by Peacock in 2022 following an extended copyright dispute, it has been met with delays related to the WGA strike of 2023 and changes in direction that resulted in the departure of executive producer and showrunner Bryan Fuller in 2024 due to creative differences.
Crystal Lake stars Linda Cardellini as Pam Voorhees, a single mother who has been unable to shake her grief after her young, sickly son Jason tragically drowned in the town lake almost a year before. When two strangers arrive at Pam's door digging into her past, it sets off a disturbing chain of events that leaves the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: just who is Pam Voorhees?
