The limited drama debuts this October.
August 2, 2026
Prime Video is readying the first series adaptation of Carrie, Stephen King's iconic 1974 debut novel. The 8-episode limited drama premieres on the streaming service on October 7.
A fresh, contemporary reimagining of the classic story, the series follows Carrie White, a misfit high‑schooler who has spent her life hidden away inside the walls of her home with her fiercely protective mother. After her father's untimely death thrusts her into the unforgiving ecosystem of public high school, Carrie must navigate a viral bullying scandal that tears through her community, the relentless pressure and casual cruelty of the social‑media age, and the awakening of mysterious telekinetic powers that rise alongside her adolescence.

I agree with Eve--all set with this. The original with Sissy Spacek was just fine for that time. I even watch it every once in a while, but these remakes are almost always failures. It's already been said and done--just leave it alone!

It's a "pass" for me; seems like this decade is full of re-makes that were (and are) perfectly fine as they were. Ditto for the upcoming Harry Potter series.

We didn't need yet another version of this story on screen..... but on the other hand, Siena Agudong is very hot.
