The British drama's final chapter premieres in October.

PBS announced today that it will air the second and final season of The Gold beginning October 18. The British drama aired its first season stateside on Paramount+ in 2023 but the streamer opted not to pick up Season 2. Masterpiece on PBS later opted to pick up the series and re-aired the first season in 2025.
Inspired by the real-life events that occurred on November 26, 1983, the series follows what happened when six armed men broke into the Brink's-Mat security depot near Heathrow Airport in London and inadvertently stumbled across £26m worth of gold bullion. What began as a typical Old Kent Road armed robbery became a seminal event in British criminal history that at the time was the world's biggest ever theft. The disposal of the bullion triggered large-scale international money laundering; provided the dirty money that helped fuel the London Docklands property boom; united blue- and white-collar criminals; and left a trail of controversy and murder.
The final chapter returns to the scene of the crime. Following the conviction of some of those involved in the theft and handling of the Brink's-Mat bullion, police realized they had only been on the trail of half the haul: Season 2 is inspired by theories surrounding what happened to the other half. The investigation shifts to the 1990s with a new generation of suspects involved in high-stakes money laundering and organized crime on an international level.
