Paramount+ is bringing the UK hit series The Gold to stateside viewers. The streaming service will premiere the limited drama this Sunday, September 17, with the release of its first two episodes. New episodes will then be available to stream each Sunday.
Inspired by the real-life events that occurred on November 26, 1983, the series follows what happened when six armed men broke into the Brink's-Mat security depot near Heathrow Airport in London and inadvertently stumbled across £26m worth of gold bullion. What began as a typical Old Kent Road armed robbery became a seminal event in British criminal history that at the time was the world's biggest ever theft. The disposal of the bullion triggered large-scale international money laundering; provided the dirty money that helped fuel the London Docklands property boom; united blue- and white-collar criminals; and left a trail of controversy and murder.
