Just watched the season 2 finale. The acting chops of Vera, Freddie and Max were particularly shining in this final episode.
A friend of mine lost interest in the show a few episodes ago, stating "too many writers".
Perhaps it takes a bunch of writers to get in the "head" of Norman Bates.
But I find this TV series to be far better than the stupid remakes of movie based on the original Hitchcock film. Anthony Perkins was stellar in his role... but time moves on.
Kudos to the cast, writers, and the great music artists that kept us moving forward.. (as a musician, I found it so cool to here in the finale episode, a sight of hand quote of the original Bernard Hermann score)

I think Bates Motel is an intriguing series. Freddie Highmore is so talented as is Vera Farminga.. the way Norma's character is so emotionally unbalanced makes it seem so real...what she has been thru, her haunted past, then trying to build a better life for herself and her son and then dealing with the rape and a cop boyfriend who deals in human trafficking, wow...really I feel both deserve an emmy for their roles in this show, I too cant stand reality tv so was so disappointed to hear of Glades being cancelled also...A&E is a credible network, they are not known for trashy tv with jerry springer themes lol,i feel they wont just take any random show on, so I hope Bates continues to thrive, and I hope the ratings stay high so they can keep producing. And I also agree, waiting til next year for season 2 is pushing the envelope but as the saying goes: if you are an important person, ppl will wait for you...same goes with tv, so I hope its early in the year atleast.

I think the problem with these cable made series is, they often take much longer to gear up for new seasons. People lose interest. What happened to American Horror Story? Burn Notice? They all faltered and lost fans because of slow next seasons. Fortunately, according to Grapevine, A. Horror will be about witches of all things! It's going to be called "Coven".
I like this Bates show, but 2014??? Long wait.
