The search is on for the next boy band sensation as undiscovered young talent from around the country compete for a coveted spot in a new group that will receive a recording contract with Hollywood Records.

It all starts with thousands of singers auditioning for one of 18 spots in three bands. To make the cut they must impress the architects in order to avoid elimination. Contestants are shuffled in order to find the best combination of voices that then perform live for America.

After each band's performance is critiqued, home viewers vote for their favorites. By season's end, the five top singers will be announced, and as a group will perform their new single together for the first time.
