I have to admit, I didn't like the first episode, it seemed too corny. But was willing to give it another shot and each show has gotten better; it grows on you. I'm excited to see where it goes. Now I'm hoping it doesn't get cancelled.

Actually, I was pleasantly surprised by the second episode about the baby sex change.
They threw in a lot of moral and ethical questions and arguments about gender equality and self-determination. The humour was downplayed.
I'm confused about which direction the show is taking.

Thanks Sally.. I'm not open to play with trolls though. So I'll keep my opinion. It's no "parody" it's a clear rip off.

So far, the first two episodes didn't turn out as bad as the critics in USA Today described it in the Friday edition before the pilot episode. But time will tell. I will say I didn't care for yesterday's episode (Thursday the 21st Sept). I'm not into shows where they make a big deal about performing a sex change on a newborn. That was a bunch of shit.

Even though I don't dig the characters that much (yet), I'm super stocked about this show. It's a complete and total Star Trek ripoff...but having to live without new ST (series) for the past 12 years, I'll gladly take this! No joke aside.
Finally, finally we have a sci-fi series which isn't all "dark and mysterious" like almost everything else had to be for the past decade.
I do however not give it a huge chance of not getting cancelled, but I'll be hopeful none the less.

Hey Tom, just so you know, because they probably didn't teach you this in school, if there is one difference, then nothing is LITERAL!!! And to add onto your stupidity, a parody of something is supposed to be like that something it is making fun of. So if it is a Star Trek parody, then it should be just like Star Trek. I mean 2+2 does equal four. And if you cleaned out your ears enough every morning you be able to fully listen and follow the dialogue in the show and figure out for yourself that it's just like family guy except in space and in live action. And just so you know what that means Tom, live action means not a cartoon. You've been SallySued!

It is LITERALLY jsut a bad copy Star Trek. The only real difference is the crew actually has a sense of humor. But the plots.. storylines, even acting, is just a direct rip off of Star Trek.. it's like Seth McFarlane had a dream to be on Star Trek.. and he's got "F-U" money... so he made it happen as close as possible... but after 2 episodes, this isn't a great show.

I've seen this show twice now and I think it's....awesome and actually funny! I fell in love with this show last week in the premiere. I guess I must be odd from reading the other reviews; but I knew when I read the summary of the show a few weeks ago that The Orville is a parody of Star Trek so it's supposed to be silly. :) My husband likes it too. I hope Fox keeps it and renews it. :)

I tried it, but I just don't like it at all! I think Seth MacFarlane is really funny, but in my opinion, this show sucks.

Nice special effects, borrowed ideas, borrowed music
Also they forgot to hire writers. Must have gotten some beginners who watch a lot of juvenile shows.
