This documentary series examines the case of Barbara Hamburg, who was brutally murdered in 2010 near her home in the upper-middle class enclave of Madison, Connecticut. Investigators thought it was a crime of passion but did not have sufficient evidence, and the case became cold.

Over the course of eight years, family members and many others were interviewed as a means to learn more about Barbara's life and gather evidence. During this time, a web of familial and local secrets came to light, exposing connections to shadowy figures and years-old resentments in the deceptively-serene hometown.
