The insufferable girl who knows it all, paired with the clueless boy who can't tie his own shoes without his mom, his sister, or the family dog stepping in to save him. It's a tired narrative shortcut — manufacture "girl power" by making the male character look stupid, instead of bothering to write a genuinely competent female character on her own merits. Flip the old helpless-damsel cliché on its head, call it progress, and nobody questions it. Try reversing the genders — a sharp dad correcting a "ditzy" daughter — and it wouldn't make it to air. That asymmetry is the tell: this isn't equality, it's a permission structure where mockery only flows in one direction. And it's not harmless — kids absorb the pattern early. Boys learn incompetence is expected of them; girls learn their worth comes from always being right. That's not a story about equality. It's just a smaller box with a different label.
