Gossip Girl's fourth season debut fell 29% compared to the show's Season 3 premiere last year. The drama pulled a 1.0 rating for adults 18-49 vs 1.4 in the same category last fall. It fared better for adults 18-34 with a 1.4, but that was also down 30% from its 2.0 rating last fall in that demographic.

Paired up with 90210 for Mondays this year, both shows had lacklustre premieres to start off the 2010/2011 seasons. With Gossip Girl in Season 4, it's run could be nearing an end. If its numbers hold up, the show isn't quite on the radar for cancellation, but I'd say a fifth season is questionable at this point.

Also of note is that Gossip Girl's premiere ratings were about on par for where the show ended last season. Whereas 90210's premiere fared about 20% better from where it ended Season 2.
