The Upper East Side teen drama will return in the Fall.

The CW announced today the renewal of Gossip Girl for Season 5. The pickup comes alongside renewals of four other series for the network's 2011-2012 season: 90210, Supernatural, America's Next Top Model, and The Vampire Diaries.
Gossip Girl has been a solid performer for the network since its premiere in 2007. It is currently The CW's second most popular series among women 18-34, which is a key demographic for the network. Look for Season 5 to kick off in the Fall.
Notably absent from today's announcement are mentions of two freshman series on the network: Hellcats and Nikita. There hasn't been any word on the future of either show, but in February Nikita co-star Melinda Clarke called its chances for a second season 'very likely'. Hellcats may not be as forturnate, as the series has struggled somewhat during its first season.
