Prospects for another season of the superhero drama don't look good.
March 14, 2011
Fans of "No Ordinary Family" should probably prepare themselves for the fact that next month's season closer will also be its series finale. It's been a tough run for the freshman ABC drama since it debuted last September. Being slotted in Tuesday nights against some pretty steep competition, the show has always struggled to find a wide audience. And while there is no official word from ABC on the superhero series' future, all signs point to cancellation for the show.
Let's first have a look at the ratings. The show premiered decently enough with a 3.2 rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic, but quickly dropped off over the course of the season to a point where its most recent episode earned a 1.2 - far less than half of what it debuted with. That rating alone would be enough to limit the show's chances for renewal.

Then late last month, news broke that ABC had trimmed the number of episodes for the show's first season by two.
And if that wasn't bad enough, the series' two lead stars have recently signed on to new fall pilot shows on another network. Michael Chiklis has booked a role on a new CBS comedy pilot called "Vince Uncensored", while co-star Julie Benz has joined an untitled CBS supernatural medical drama. In both cases the stars' new projects are in second position to No Ordinary Family, meaning the superhero drama has priority should it be renewed. It should be noted, however, that stars of returning shows don't typically start booking other projects.
We likely won't know No Ordinary Family's fate until May, but as it stands now the show likely will not return when the Fall season starts.

I just finished watching the whole season on netflix and for what???!! To find out that there will be no season 2...that sucks. I think in todays world, rating a show because of the ratings of the year it came out is nearsighted. People don't buy into cable anymore.

This show was amazing. All of my friends would sit down and watch what new episode had in store for us. It ended the season with to many questions that needs to be answered. And from the text, it ways that they may have new characters. You cant have a show with new people, it ruins the whole idea of the show. ABC, I'd you are reading this, no new stars, and continue making this very high quality show. Yes, I did not have time to view this show when it came on, but on Netflix and other tv veiwing shows it was a hit

as i stated below about making a difference i would like to add that maybe my comments dont make a difference but i try and who knows maybe they do. thats what they should try making a difference and ending what they started. i finished season one in a matter of 24 hours.
As you can see many people dont watch it in tv, they watch it on netflix ! i also watched it on netflix, unordinary family has 4 stars, THE LAST SONG by nicolas sparks one of the best movies as 3 1/2 stars. I hope you understand my reasoning.

Canceling no ordinary family would be a tradegie to those who watch and admire it. Why cancel the show when they ended season one with such urgance to watch the next season. To some it may not matter if you cancel ir or not but to others it does. Instead of making SOME people unhappy make a difference and make them happy.
