Prospects for another season of the superhero drama don't look good.
March 14, 2011
Fans of "No Ordinary Family" should probably prepare themselves for the fact that next month's season closer will also be its series finale. It's been a tough run for the freshman ABC drama since it debuted last September. Being slotted in Tuesday nights against some pretty steep competition, the show has always struggled to find a wide audience. And while there is no official word from ABC on the superhero series' future, all signs point to cancellation for the show.
Let's first have a look at the ratings. The show premiered decently enough with a 3.2 rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic, but quickly dropped off over the course of the season to a point where its most recent episode earned a 1.2 - far less than half of what it debuted with. That rating alone would be enough to limit the show's chances for renewal.

Then late last month, news broke that ABC had trimmed the number of episodes for the show's first season by two.
And if that wasn't bad enough, the series' two lead stars have recently signed on to new fall pilot shows on another network. Michael Chiklis has booked a role on a new CBS comedy pilot called "Vince Uncensored", while co-star Julie Benz has joined an untitled CBS supernatural medical drama. In both cases the stars' new projects are in second position to No Ordinary Family, meaning the superhero drama has priority should it be renewed. It should be noted, however, that stars of returning shows don't typically start booking other projects.
We likely won't know No Ordinary Family's fate until May, but as it stands now the show likely will not return when the Fall season starts.

ARE YOU INSANE!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!! I SAW SEASON 1 IN A MATTER OF 24 HOURS OR LESS SO I CAN ARRIVE AT THE CONVICTION THAT ITS GOING TO BE CANCELED?! THIS IS BLASPHEMY! THIS SHOW MAY NOT BE AS INTRIGUING TO ADULTS BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO BUSY WORKING BUT US, THE KIDS, DO HAVE THE TIME. TAKE ME FOR EXAMPLE, I WAS SO INTO THE SHOW THAT I SAW IT IN A FEW HOURS. THIS SHOW IS AMAZING, AND IT HAS LEFT ME WITH A LOAD OF QUESTIONS THAT I WANT ANSWERS TO. SO PLEASE, DONT CANCEL THE SHOW. :)

I also agree with everyone one else. This show is awesome. Nothing more than awesome! I watched my first episode online so I understand the issue with the ratings but if you put the show on a Saturday or even a Sunday more people would have a chance to sit down and watch it. It wasn't just me watching it, my whole watched it together, for it was the one of the best family shows on air. Please don't cancel the show! Who knows, maybe with all the hear say of the show not coming back, more people might fill lucky that it is back and it might be watched by double or maybe triple the audience?!

I WANT SEASON 2. I got hooked on this show from netflix. It would be a shame for it to just be canceled, because they did not give it a chance. I just found out about it two weeks ago. They need to bring it back. I will watch it every week.

I love thus show, its the only thing my whole family enjoys to watch together, even though the fall.season has started, it will do good for the viewers to bring back this all American tv show, I would, along with many others would love to see No Ordinary Family come back with a second season, or even a movie to show what the fans are dying to see.
