Prospects for another season of the superhero drama don't look good.
March 14, 2011
Fans of "No Ordinary Family" should probably prepare themselves for the fact that next month's season closer will also be its series finale. It's been a tough run for the freshman ABC drama since it debuted last September. Being slotted in Tuesday nights against some pretty steep competition, the show has always struggled to find a wide audience. And while there is no official word from ABC on the superhero series' future, all signs point to cancellation for the show.
Let's first have a look at the ratings. The show premiered decently enough with a 3.2 rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic, but quickly dropped off over the course of the season to a point where its most recent episode earned a 1.2 - far less than half of what it debuted with. That rating alone would be enough to limit the show's chances for renewal.

Then late last month, news broke that ABC had trimmed the number of episodes for the show's first season by two.
And if that wasn't bad enough, the series' two lead stars have recently signed on to new fall pilot shows on another network. Michael Chiklis has booked a role on a new CBS comedy pilot called "Vince Uncensored", while co-star Julie Benz has joined an untitled CBS supernatural medical drama. In both cases the stars' new projects are in second position to No Ordinary Family, meaning the superhero drama has priority should it be renewed. It should be noted, however, that stars of returning shows don't typically start booking other projects.
We likely won't know No Ordinary Family's fate until May, but as it stands now the show likely will not return when the Fall season starts.

Netflix has allowed us to watch the entire first season of NO Ordinary Family, and we all enjoyed it. I agree with other posts, if the showed had been properly advertised they would have had a bigger following. ABC do us a favor and give the show another chance and really plug your show and its great cast. SO much potential!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

It was a good show. I watched the first season straight through on Netflix and ejoyed it, but am not sure it would have held my interest from one week to the next.
I did like the idea better than Hero's, but then I hated Hero's so that doesn't say much.

Well i have to agree i didn't even know about this series until i ran across it on netflix. Very poor promoting. But this show was awesome and not to bring it back would be a sad moment in television. Ya'll have cancelled so many of our shows right when their getting good that i would hate to see this epic series go to waste, threw back to a withering pill of stock in your warehouse. Give your viewers a break bring back this show and promote it much better and i promise your ratings will go through the roof.

I just watched the entire season within the past day.. I never knew it even existed, but to not bring it back, would be a total shame.. Its a great family show, not about teens getting pregnant, wife swapping, murders, crime solving, I think we see enough of that in reality. So bring back the show we need to be watching.. No Ordinary Family.

I am shocked to learn that NOF was cancelled. What is wrong with the network execs? I know, they are out of touch with what American families want on TV. Finally, there was a show my entire family loved. It was about family, it was clean, it was enjoyable and a unique concept (Not like Heroes) I agree with an earlier poster...NCSI, CSINY, CSIMiami...totally inappropriate for families, so violent, so graphic, riddled with sex, violence and drugs and my gosh...how many of these shows do we need? BORING...I turn them off. Wake up...We want NOF BACK!!!!! I agree...you are a total disappointment ABC!
