April 14, 2011
Discovery is bringing back Deadliest Catch for an eighth season. The announcement was made today as the network unveiled its 2011-2012 upfront slate.
The series captures all the gripping action of one of the world's most dangerous jobs - Alaskan crab fishing. Season 7 kicked off earlier this week with a two-hour premiere on April 12.

again, the best show on TV. The Harris boys seem to be doing well and Josh has certainly been wonderful. Like the flashbacks to Phil Harris, and look forward to a long future with deadliest catch. Thanks guys.

My husbe and and I really enjoy this show.. We all felt the loss of Phil and we need time to miss him. There is a big piece missing. I hope his sons get it together in memory of his Dadl Maybe they blew all his money and can't afford to run the boat. Come on boys we are all fighting for you. Hope to see you guys get it together.

After spending years in the Coast Guard stationed in Kodiak Air Station, and mingling with the crab fisherman in the B&B, I can testify that those crab fishermen are the gutsiet, toughest and most insane people I've met in my 25 years in the CG. The show is great and rivals Swamp People. What happended to Big Schrimpin?

Being a Pacific Coast Commercial Crab fishermen fo 50 years now,I take my hat off,to these guys up in Alaska.I worked on a Salmon tender out of False Pass, which is childs play, compare to the weather these guys pull gear in.I think Sig keeps his crew in best spirit and attitudes of all the captains..I real liked Phil, good captain, but his kids were spoiled brats..

Frank, Josh and Jake had hired Derrick Ray as Captain to go out with them on the Cornelia Marie after Phil's passing, Derrick did not find the Crabs, and that is part of what a Captain's job is. There were other issues which led to Derrick's being fired. He actually had the nerve to tell them "everbody has a parent who dies, get over it". That alone, in my opinion would have been reason enough to fire him, he totally disrespected their Father's legacy, life and boat on the first trip out since Captain Phil died. I just could not believe that. Josh is centered in reality, did not want to be a Captain at this time. He is still healing. Then, because of the financial losses they could not afford to take the boat out and have a full crew on board. I think it is good they took work on other boats till their grieving is resolved. They need to be out there on the sea, doing what they do to work thru all that. You got to remember their parents were divorced, so they had that while growing up, plus everything that Phil went thru. Then their anchor, Phil was just taken from them. Hopefully under Sig's guidance Jake will get some of what he needs to work thru his conflicts and find his way. Josh went with someone who knows what he is capable of and will respect his professional experience. He'll have the autonomy he needs with a Captain who understands the loss he's expereinced because they all knew Phil and feel the loss. Him and Jake may need to just be away from each other to resolve their grief individually, before they can come back together working on the Bering Sea. We're all hoping for the best for them.
