CBS has canceled freshman legal drama The Defenders after one season. Also canceled by the network today were comedies Mad Love and $#*! My Dad Says.
The Defenders followed two Las Vegas defense attorneys played by James Belushi and Jerry O'Connell. The series got off to a decent start last September, earning an early full-season pickup after a month of averaging a 2.8 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic.
However, its ratings started to slip in subsequent airings and CBS elected to move the show to Friday nights, where it continued to stumble. It fell as low as 1.1 in February, before slowly recovering to as high as 1.5 in its second-to-last episode. The show aired its series finale on March 11.

how is it possible to cancel such a great show, i liked this better than ncis both of them and csi las vegas, csi las vegas isnt even funny anymore and the defenders could have become a awesome show if they made more seasons

we loved this show!!!! bad move cbs! it was so entertaining, a breath of fresh air, something a little different. we looked forward to it every week!!! BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think they take the ratings of people watching via hulu and other devices. These people need to get with the times!

I can't believe this show was cancelled. I watched the whole 1st season in netflix and was hoping for more.

Un****believable! Whats the h*** is wrong with these networks??? The show was well written, well acted and above all entertaining. This was the role Jim Belushi was born to play. He shined! I don't know why I'm so surprised with all these mindless, stupid, idiotic reality shows getting the high ratings. The cancellation of this show confirms the dumbification of America. Piss off CBS!! I pray a cable station picks up the show like they did with Southland another great show that was cancelled by a TV network. Idiots!!

What a shame....my husband and I loved this show. Great actors and plots. CBS cancells this and gives us more reality shows? Lighten up...thank goodness for netflix...tired of liking a show and the networks cancelling....Who needs tv anymore?

I LOVED THE DEFENDERS!!! IT WAS MY FAVORITE SHOW!!!! I don't think it was advertised well.... BRING IT BACK!!!!
