The CW has canceled cheerleading drama Hellcats after one season on the air. The news was somewhat expected, as we expressed concern for the show's future back in March when its ratings took a turn for the worse.

The freshman series premiered to solid numbers and was even rewarded with a full-season pickup a month into its run. Over its first 10 episodes, Hellcats was averaging a 1.0 rating among adults 18-49, but unfortunately its viewership slowly dropped off over the course of the season - hitting a low of 0.4 on April 26.

Hellcats ends after 22 episodes, with its series finale airing tonight.
