The sci-fi drama has been renewed for a second season.
July 7, 2011
TNT has renewed freshman series Falling Skies after airing just three episodes of the alien invasion drama. Like Season One, 10 new episodes have been ordered - which will air in the Summer of 2012.
"Falling Skies is a true standout series, from its ambitious storytelling, high-profile cast and production team to its phenomenal success when it comes to international and time-shifted viewing," said network head of programming, Michael Wright. "We're reaching new audiences with Falling Skies and look forward to seeing where this fascinating and exciting series takes us next."
Falling Skies has found early success since premiering last month, with its first episode earning an impressive 8 million viewers (Live + 7 data) and being ranked as cable's top series launch of 2011. Executive produced by Steven Spielberg, the show follows a group of survivors in the aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the earth incapacitated.

I really hate that the web versions of the show are only accessible if you have a cable provider! I suppose it's a good idea if it generates money for cable and TNT, but sort of negates the freedom of the internet. Anyway, did the birthday party for the kid bother anyone else as much as it did me? Don't the other kids deserve a Birthday Party too? Do we really have time for a Birthday Party anyway? This show would be better if it revealed the true dark nature of survival in such a dire situation...but I guess if they made it more realistic there wouldn't be any time for all the Teen angst and flirting....and Birthday Parties. Why didn't the aliens make a virus to get rid of any pesky humans outside of their control? Yes folks, quantity vs quality wins again.

This show was advertised with so much hype that it really became a disappointment. The story line was just too simple and flavorless, and the action scenes are just not appealing. The season finale was a letdown, all it took was just one RPG to destroy that structure? The entire world's armies couldn't figure it out? I expected a hell of a lot more than just such simple plots and storylines. It is a shame that so many good shows have not been renewed for more seasons but this one has.

The show is a middle class fantasy. Petit bourgeois propaganda is smeared all over the show to demonstrate how much fathers love their sons and how resistant our cherished values of birthday parties, baby showers, and loyalty to backstabbing family members is in the face of an invasion that killed 90% of the population and turns children into zombies. By that time if we didn't act like Al Queda rather than Tom's cherished American Revolutionary Soldiers we'd deserve extinction. How it got renewed is beyond me. I stopped watching after episode 4 when I lost hope it would get better.

I got into this show but I can sure see why people would hate it. The thing I find annoying is how slow it moves. It feels like someone is stretching 20 minutes worth of story over an hour. Still I got into the thing and I keep finding myself coming back for more.

1st of all, this LAME show is feeding off the vibe of "The Walking Dead" and 2nd of all there is no STORY in this sorry show. Anyone who likes this show has a serious problem when it comes to good taste. I understand to each is own but, THE ONLY REASON this show is airing is simply because Spielberg's name is on it, THATS IT. Do not try and justify this whack silly mess of a show please ok. The only good thing about this show is Moon Bloodgood.

Freedom of speech and all that but if you don't like it don't watch it. I thought the series was great. For me its more about the story then the action. And I'm sure the show would not have been renewed if the ratings didn't support it.

I watched the whole series in the vain hope that something good would happen. Lucky I didn't hold my breath.
It seemed to me like they had no budget to make anything good happen until the last episode and even that was a let down. Everything is shown after its happened, soldiers dead in cars after the fight... where's all the action? how disappointing!

Bland, predictable, overly syrupy and at times moronic. The sequence where they leave the recently de harnessed boy, the harness and a captive alien alone beggared belief. The next episode one of the soldiers wears the harness which in the previous episode was active this time it's not, any reason given No.
I watched the whole first series hoping it would improve and engage but it failed on both counts. I won't be watching next year. I'm genuinely amazed this tripe has been given a 2nd season.

I actually really enjoy this show. I don't know how they will do a second season of this because it could be wrapped up by the end of season 1, but I'll be happy to continue to support it.

WOW!! if ever there was a show worth cancelling - this is it! i have never written anything on a site like this but i'm compelled by my shock that this load of crap could possibly fill more of our airways! I suffered through the episodes hoping that somewhere somehow it was going to get better but sadly my time has been wasted - but it wont be in the future!
