TBS will not go ahead with a third season of the late night talk show.
August 10, 2011
TBS has cancelled late night talk show Lopez Tonight, deciding not order a third season of the show. The final episode will air this Thursday night.
TBS released the following statement regarding the show's cancellation:
"TBS has reached the difficult decision not to order a third season of Lopez Tonight. Thursday will be the final episode of the show. We are proud to have partnered with George Lopez, who is an immensely talented comedian and entertainer. TBS has valued its partnership with George and appreciates all of his work on behalf of the network, both on and off the air."
Lopez Tonight represented TBS' first foray into late night talk shows, launching in 2009. The network's other recently-launched talk show Conan will continue as planned.

Mike if that is the best you can do in a comeback you are seriously out of your league. I for one agreed with you in regards to jokes about white people but I also did not think George Lopez was all that funny. It has nothing to do with his color or ethnicity. I also think Conan in immature and moronic. David Letterman and Jay Leno are the standard bearers for what late night talk shows should be. Conan O'brien and others who have tried to make it in the prime slot have have failed. Yes Conan has been given another shot but he will fail again.
Moderators keep this one.

Mary I find it funny how you take offense to a minority making fun of us white people. For a long time minorities were the butt of white comedians jokes and now when minorities turn the tables some white people get offended. The shame.
On a side note I am white and I was not a fan of Lopez tonight. Not because of the off color humor in regards to people without color but because the show was not really all that funny. None the less I wish George Lopez the best in his endeavors because I think overall he is a nice guy.

I agree. I have never found George Lopez particularly funny. Conan, on the other hand, is fantastic and I hope he stays around on TBS for a long time.

Good for TBS! Finally, someone is removing a show that obviously doesn't display an understanding that all races should come together. Lopez is consistently degrading white folks and we're expected to laugh it off. I loved his sitcom, however his real personality shows just how far behind the times his thinking really is. He wants to be in public office. I think we can do better.
