After four seasons on the air, TLC has announced that LA Ink is coming to an end. The tattoo shop-based reality show will air its series finale on September 15, 2011.

TLC confirmed the show's cancellation in statement to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, "TLC has decided that the current season of LA Ink will be its last. The network is proud of what the series has accomplished in its four seasons, following Kat Von D's journey as an artist from Miami to Los Angeles."

The network's relationship with show star Kat Von D became strained this season after her break-up with fiance Jesse James. While promoting the show's July premiere on Good Day L.A., Von D took offense to a clip they aired that included James. After storming off the set, she refused to apologize and consequently refused to continue promoting the series. It is unclear just how much this factored into TLC's decision to cancel the show.
