The critically acclaimed dramedy will return for a third season in 2012.
September 1, 2011
Showtime announced today that The Big C has been renewed for a third season consisting of 10 new episodes. The order will make next season the show's shortest yet; its previous two seasons came in at 13 apiece.
The Laura Linney-led series, in which the actress plays a reserved suburban teacher whose life is shaken up by a terminal cancer diagnosis, is expected to return for Season 3 in the second quarter of 2012. Today's pickup comes as the show's second season gets set to air its finale later this month on September 26.

Television is not the same without the Big C. The season should have 25 shows not less. The acting is great, especially the life turmoil that is relevant to all. People identify with drugs in families, bi-polar and Cancer - the dreaded terminal illness. I find humor, drama, and stress in the lives of the Big C portrays.

VERY HAPPY TO KNOW WE HAVING THE BIG C FOR ONE MORE NEW SEASON 3.I was upset when I didnt know that episode 13 was the last for seasn 2. Now that I have searched for this great show and read that is coming back for one more season makes me very happy. This kind of shows and stories is what alot of teens should be watching to realize that health, life, and family is important. I felt like this show did teach alot even if we are adults. This show does know how to squeeze tears out of u in a natural way. This has been a great show, cant wait when the new season starts.Do hope that they dont make this new season a short episodes, its like cutting life in half :/ I CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT THEY HAVE IN STORE FOR US CAN U????

Please do not let Oliver Platt's character die in the
series. I think Paul's physical presence is important
to Cathy. It is also so important that he be there for
Adam. I've already come to terms with the very big possi-
bility that Cathy will die and I just don't want Adam
to lose both his Mom & Dad. He is such a cutie petuttie.
I just love the series and all its wonderfully talented
actors. Laura Linney has been a favorite mine for so long. Loved her in the HBO series "John Adams".
Cannot wait for the next season.

I am so glad to see that The Big C is being renewed for a 3rd season. But I am disappointed at the number of episodes that will be shown. What happened to the shows of years ago that began in Sept and went on hiatus the next May. Series are getting shorter and shorter. And these ridiculous reality shows are coming on more and more. I refuse to watch any of these reality shows. They are just a total waste of my viewing time. Looks like there will be only a few TV shows that we will be watching soon. Thank goodness for Netflix DVDs and streaming! And I guess I'll be reading more and watching less TV. Now that's a good thing!
