Lifetime will not move ahead with a second season of its new cop drama.
September 8, 2011
The Protector has been cancelled after one season on the air. Lifetime will not be ordering any additional episodes of the freshman drama, which was a relative weak performer in the ratings.
The series, which follows a single mom balancing her career as a homicide detective with raising her twin sons, premiered in June and was watched by 1.9 million viewers. Ratings slipped in further airings, likely leading to the network's decision to not proceed with another season.

This is getting very tiresome. You just get to know the characters and the dynamics between characters and the show is cancelled. Why doesn't our vote count. With DVRs, we are watching the shows, just not always at the precise moment you are "counting" who is watching. Shame on those who make these decsions.

Maybe it would have done better than at 11 pm

Didn't even give the show a chance. What makes you think we would rather watch a show where the girl lives to have hot sex all the time after getting home from work. That's almost porn. I'm not impressed. You moved Protector for that. Shame on you.

Ally Walker was a perfect choice for the part.
I am sad that the show was cancelled. Hopefully she
will be appearing on something new but I really liked
The Protector.
