Lifetime will not move ahead with a second season of its new cop drama.
September 8, 2011
The Protector has been cancelled after one season on the air. Lifetime will not be ordering any additional episodes of the freshman drama, which was a relative weak performer in the ratings.
The series, which follows a single mom balancing her career as a homicide detective with raising her twin sons, premiered in June and was watched by 1.9 million viewers. Ratings slipped in further airings, likely leading to the network's decision to not proceed with another season.

Ireally liked this program!! You always cancel the programs that might be thought provoking and leave the mindless dribble for the masses. Lifetme, you suck this time.

I am so sick and tired of really good shows getting canceled. Sooner or later everyone will stop watching new shows.........what's the point?

Lifetime, I am VERY disappointed in you for cancelling The Protector. It was a terrific show about people living unique lives and making it work. It was written with wit, integrity -- yes, I SAID INTEGRITY -- and great tenderness plus no-holds=barred topics. The episodes with the mother visiting are marvelous and iconic, and the questions each character entertains about the others is shown so exquisitely. How could you cancel this show!?

I actually enjoyed this show. I just learned that it has been canceled. I feel like it had so much potential to get better and better each season. WTF!!

Yet another show that I watch gets cancelled. I have decided not to watch any new shows. I will watch my old shows until they get cancelled and then maybe I will just read or do something else with my time. Off the Map, Protector, The Gates, Reunion, WTF....

A very poorly written show with little in the realm of police procedure one could cut their teeth on or the cozy family routine one can snuggle with over a firer. A gimick, adios

Ally Walker is one of my favorite actresses and this was the best show since Profiler...very disappointed in Lifetime for moving the show from Sunday to late night Monday with no promotion or advertising. Even my husband sat to watch this show with me and was disappointed it was cancelled. Hopefully Walker will land a new show with more press and support.

Here we go again...another family show bites the dust. The regular cast as well as the guest stars really pulled you into the storyline each week. Sad to see it go, but what else is new? You find a summer show you can really get into, look forward to its return and what happens next? It gets axed with the best of 'em.

I like this show and the actors deserve a chance. It would have been nice if the show was on before 11 pm.
I feel you didn't give this show a chance
