NBC has removed the freshman drama from its schedule effective immediately.
October 4, 2011
NBC has made its first cancellation of the 2011-12 season, with The Playboy Club being the one to fall. The freshman series had only aired three episodes before getting the axe.
The network's decision was likely made after the show pulled a lowly 1.2 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic, marking its third straight week of falling viewership. Controversy around the show's subject matter likely factored into the move as well.
Replacing The Playboy Club on Mondays at 10:00pm will be repeats of Prime Suspect, another new NBC series also faltering the ratings.

NBC has made a big mistake and it may come back and haunt them just like Southland did.

So disappointed! I thought Eddie Cibrian had finally found his second best role, after Third Watch. This sucks. And that is my official opinion. Sucks!!

I highly doubt that it was cancelled for its controversy. People didn't want to watch it because it was so poorly written. Could have been a great show!

This is the biuggest TV upset in a long time. The show is great and it can be even better on a network like Showtime and HBO. The third episode was the best so far and we don't even get to see what happens next. This is just too bad.

Really Cancelling after only 3 episodes? NBC should really of gave The Play Boy Club more a chance. It's unfair for those of us who are already hooked on the storyline and now will never know... I mean at least play out the season... how can you tell the success of a show or not when it's only aired three episodes. Not only that, but I never saw any promotion for it. You want something to do well, you have to try and sell it to your audience! After your company goes through the money and time to create the first few episodes of a new series at least try and make it successful. I feel like NBC barely even tried with The Play Boy Club. It was a great concept and I looked forward to watching it every Monday! I hope somebody see's the great potential in this show and continues to air it.

I'm shocked and so upset that The Playboy Club has been cancelled! Thank you NBC for ruining my Monday nights. The best part is the network didn't even give it a chance. I guess at NBC no one is allowed to make a mistake or pick up something not as quick as they "should" or they will get a foot in the a**. An amazing show and for the ratings to be low due to "controvesy" of the show...then we live in a sad world, because those were big issues in the 1960s. I guess they still are today. Grow up people.

This is my 1st comment on this site. I am sooooooooooooo mad this show was cancelled. I had to catch "The Playboy Club" ondemand, but looked forward to every episode. Besides "Whitney" and "Up All Night", this was by faaar my favorite new show, this season. "Pan Am" blows, since we seem to be comparing the two. I agree with those who hope that a cable network should pick up the show... I am fuming right now...

I liked this show. It was really well written and the plot just kept getting thicker. I was looking forward to seeing it. As I was weeding out all the new shows this was definately NOT on my cut list. I hope this will be picked up by cable. I would like to see the story played out. I enjoyed all the actors and thought it was perfectly cast. Once again NBC you blew it.
