Production has been shut down on the struggling new cop drama.
November 16, 2011
NBC has finally pulled the plug on its low-rated freshman drama Prime Suspect. The series has struggled to find an audience since premiering in September, and after it was left off the network's midseason schedule earlier this week, the writing was on the wall. Word is now that production has now been shut down completely.
NBC did its best to boost Prime Suspect's viewership, airing a large amount of promo spots for the show and even airing repeats in the prime time slot of cancelled series The Playboy Club. Ratings, however, did not improve.
It is being reported that all 13 episodes that were produced will air, although it is not known if NBC will keep the show in its current Thursday night time slot. Six new episodes remain in Prime Suspect's first and final season.

Maria Bello is true grit...she makes me think...she's a real woman....the show's writers should be commended...this is one of the few shows that my husband & I look forward to watching together each week! Please reconsider any decision to cancel this show....It's a 'must watch' show in my family and apparently in many other households! Please don't cancel this show!

I am so frustrated with those in charge of prime time viewing. Prime Suspect is such a GREAT show! I rarely watch television anymore, there is no point. I refuse to watch a bunch of rehashed swill and the usual bevy of empty headed reality tv and game shows. Give me something to hang my hat on already!! Netflix is my new tv!!

A new way is needed to gather information about the viewers of television show on NBC, because they keep canceling shows that show women in a positive role.
Some of the people making the decisions to cancel shows like Prime Suspect need to have their contracts cancelled.

Prime suspect is a great show. Why can't NBC carry it for another season? I agree with most posts. Keep Prime Suspect, dump the junk tv.

This show is so much better than anything else on the NBC network. It's better than the other new dramas like Unbearable and Person of Interest. You seriously keep Whitney and reality tv but drop a mind-blowing, thought provoking, and extremely original show? I feel so passionately about this show that I am boycotting NBC. Never boycotted a thing in my life until now. Hope you guys fire your execs and get some intelligent people in there or your network will continue to be the laughingstock of television networks.

Outstanding crime drama. It was realistic in its concept. I have watched all episodes to date. This shows deserves a second look? Remember Hill Street Blues did not have a great following at first.

I can't believe this show is canceled. Great show. Gritty. JANE is the only real woman represented as a cop in all the "women cop shows", No perfect makeup, hair, or highheels. We need more real women on TV. great show. Big disapointment.
