Production has been shut down on the struggling new cop drama.
November 16, 2011
NBC has finally pulled the plug on its low-rated freshman drama Prime Suspect. The series has struggled to find an audience since premiering in September, and after it was left off the network's midseason schedule earlier this week, the writing was on the wall. Word is now that production has now been shut down completely.
NBC did its best to boost Prime Suspect's viewership, airing a large amount of promo spots for the show and even airing repeats in the prime time slot of cancelled series The Playboy Club. Ratings, however, did not improve.
It is being reported that all 13 episodes that were produced will air, although it is not known if NBC will keep the show in its current Thursday night time slot. Six new episodes remain in Prime Suspect's first and final season.

This show was excellent. I wish that they would have tried a new time slot before pulling the plug. The writing improved with each episode and the acting of Mario Bello speaks for itself. I will miss this show.

Prime Suspect is a show that depicts what women are up against in a man's field. Maria Bello was tough, but human, and I loved how she played the part. Please bring this show back! I agree that most of the good shows are on the premium cable channels. Guess the average American viewer just wants garbage and fluff.

this show is very good. who makes up their minds to keep dumb shows and get rid of the great ones? so tired of really enjoying a show then some exec. cuts it out of the line up. such b/s.

This cancellation is by the same folks that cancelled the tried and true Law & Order (New York version) . I couldn't understand that one either. Hopefully the meatheads will give Prime Suspect more time for people to discover it. Hope USA, TNT or some network will pick it up!!

At first I was up in the air about this show but that quickly turned around. I will miss this show. I also liked Chase and was disappointed when that wasn't picked up for another season. Whose watching habits are monitored? Oh that's right, people watching The Bachelorette waiting for another breakup.

Just as everyone else has said,if its not a stupid reality show or a dumb show like Whitney & 2Broke Girls it gets cancelled. How does that inane Happy Endings get renewed & Prime Suspect get cancelled. Perhaps those slotting the shows might give it a fighting chance.Try moving it to a better slot. Replaying it in a Saturday slot is not the answer.

Every time I like a show with intelligent, well thought out characters it gets cancelled. Too bad... I guess only cable has the good shows anymore.

Too bad!! One of the few new shows that made sense. I guess since I'm not into fairy tales or vampires, I should stop watching TV and continuing reading good suspense novels. Television is becoming more and more elementary and immature. I guess that's why it's called an idiot box.
