American Dad knows how to handle sarcasm in a comedy, but Allen Gregory couldn't pull it off. I always cringed while forcing myself to watch this new type of show.. Btw, Archer manages to achieve the smug pompous /dry wit balance but that is very difficult to achieve in animation. I think along with AG you see this in Napolean Dynamite too. Some brilliantly creative writing that just doesn't play well in animation, the dead pan part is hard to convey in a still cartoon.

bam bam,
comedy is an artform, sarcasm is only one very small piece of the style. You can't make the entire show around an offensive sarcastic character. That's not comedy and allen gregory's style was just elitist snobbery. For comedy to work you have to offset the sarcasm with other forms of comedy (i.e. dead pan, slap stick, etc) otherwise it comes off as pretentious and dry.
The biggest problem with the show was that it was produced by an unfunny snobbish comedian who thought he was funny, this shined through in his humor in this show.

Bring back LIE TO ME
Sometimes it was week, daughters character was pain in the ass. Ruined the show.
It was a great character, but the writers should've follow the Mentalist format.

I agree with BamBam. This was a funny show. Most people must not get the sarcasm. And regarding "shoving the gay agenda down our throats" - that person should just go watch old George W Bush speeches / they'll probably like that much better. UGH. I'm American born and raised and the narrow minded ness of most people here amazes me. I never post on the boards ever and this was the first and last time.

GOOD! After I somehow endured the 1st episode, I was begging for its cancellation. This was the most repulsive thing I've seen in years. Burn the original tapes!

This show just didnt have likability. I enjoyed the fast-paced sarcasm, but in the end, it just kinda hated the characters even Julie solely cuz she was boring

I liked this show! Its better than two of the other animations on Fox; also the ratings were nearly equal to The Clevland Show and American Dad.
