The network has pulled its remaining episodes from its schedule.
May 11, 2012
It is a sad day for fans of NBC's Awake. The network has cancelled the freshman drama. Only 11 of the show's 13 planned episodes have aired, but the remaining two are still on the schedule for the next two Thursdays.
Awake has had an up-hill battle since premiering as a mid-season replacement back in March. Its plot contained sci-fi elements, was rather intricate at times, and required dedicated weekly viewing in order to keep up with its running storylines. Unfortunately it didn't find enough of an audience for the network to go forward with it, however the fans it did have were passionate about the show's quality and uniqueness.

I ****ing hate this planet. Almost every show I have loved has been prematurely cancelled. Meanwhile, complete garbage like Jersey Shore, wrestling and all that other douche bag "reality" **** keeps getting renewed. **** people. People are stupid. I hope the executives die of massive diarrhea.

It turns out this article is wrong about the show being pulled from the schedule....the site listed as the source says it is canceled but will remain on the schedule for the final episodes. It still sucks that it is canceled, but this article is misinforming readers on the rest of the season...

Thanks for pointing that out, Tom. At this point it does appear that the show's last two episodes will air as planned. I have corrected the posting.

Are the ratings really that bad that it's better to play reruns of whatever for two weeks instead of finishing the season? That's...disappointing. I wasn't expecting a second season at all but I will be really pissed if we don't get the rest of the season online. Crap like this is pushing me to not even bother with new shows until they have a second season ordered.

What is cheap to make survives and what is expensive dies, it's as simple as that. Oh, and if you need more than handful of brain cells to understand the story\plot then your series is likely to drown before it gets a chance to swim.
Some shows however did themselves no justice at all as they clearly were just making stuff up as they went along with no apparent end-game.
Specifically for\against Touch, the show has (or rather 'had') a great concept that could easily have done really well if on another network more suited to it's sci-fi roots but they too have taken far too long with getting to the conspiracy side of the story and also not hinted at the reasons for the dual-realities anywhere near enough to keep the interest going.
It took a few episodes before we got a 2 minute scene related to the back story and nine episodes before we got to the goof revelation about the pregnant\not pregnant storyline which connected the realities.
RIP Awake

It's one thing to cancel a show, but are they really going to not show the last two episodes, and replace them with some junk? That's why I and others don't take chances on a lot of shows - though I really enjoyed this.

The reason they dump brilliant shows like Awake and The Finder and keep crap like reality shows and Whitney is because it's much cheaper to make reality and sit coms than shows that require more elaborate locations, effects, bigger casts, etc.

I must agree with BradnerBoy; Awake, The Finder and Alcatraz are actually good shows, with likable casts and unique story lines. Yet, romantic comedies i.e. crap like Whitney, are being pumped out.
so sad!!

So we will never find out that he was never awake, that both "realities" were dreams he was having while in a coma from the crash. And both the wife and son are alive and well.

Alcatraz was kinda bad, but Awake was cool.

How can they cancel Awake, it's one of the greatest shows on tv. Whoever is in charge of these decisions obviously doesn't watch the garbage they are renewing.
