The Texas-based satirical drama will not return.
May 11, 2012
ABC has cancelled new drama GCB after one season on the air. The Texas-based series, which took a satirical look at life in Dallas, debuted as a mid-season replacement back in March and aired its season - and now series - finale on May 6, 2012.

We both want to voice our displeasure for cancelling GCB. Was one of the few programs that we watched. Funny satire, great cast of characters. Shame on you ABC. You had a winner.

Wow another great show cancelled. I just hope that another network would pick up the show and put it in a better time slot.

I can't believe this show was cancelled to, even though every show I like it seems is getting cancelled so I should have expected this by now. I live in the south, and my girlfriend will be the first to tell you true to form it really is. We both looked forward to watching this one.

Keep it up, ABC, and your network will end up in the toilet like NBC. I got so tired of NBC cancelling shows that I quit watching their network 5 years ago. I am ready to quit watching ABC, too.
I absolutely loved GCB! It was one of the funniest and freshest shows to hit the airwaves in years. The show was so funny, and the characters were interesting. GCB was really "picking up steam", and the plotlines were getting more interesting, the 'bombshells' were starting to unfold.
Yet garbage-fests like any of the Real Housewives shows, and Jersey Shore remain on the air.
ABC....YOU STINK!

I totally agree with you guys. I really looked forward to watching GCB. I think the named doomed it, just like Cougar Town, which is another great show. I am a Christian as well and never found any of the show offensive. The idiots over at ABC canceled Pushing Daisies a couple of years ago, I loved that show too. Oh well, I am sure I will love another show they put out in the fall and only get to watch it for one season too.

I am sorry to read about GCB having been cancelled - it is such an outrageously funny show and no sane person could see it as anything OTHER than a completely satirical look at life in Texas, I wonder if the show was deemed too "offensive" or some such thing. Too bad, I especially like Leslie Bibb in it, I enjoyed seeing her in the old WB series "Popular" where (coincidentally) she also played a "popular" high school student. The storylines had so much potential, such as is Amanda's husband really dead and so on. I didn't really watch much of Desperate Housewives, but in my view GCB was every bit as good.

My thoughts exactly! Unfortunately, it looks like everyone else just laughs at the reality shows and can't appreciate a genuine off the wall, over the top, parody with a message. I so enjoyed being caught off guard by the script and not be able to help but burst out laughing!
