This show is-'at its best when it stops preaching and Sticks to the comedy and heartfelt warmth Of the story of this family in all its glory And quirkiness.
Quit beating us over the head With the fact there is a gay couple. We KNOW Already!
What we want to see is exactly what The title states:
new NORMAL and all The joys, pitfalls, and pratfalls this includes.
It also includes the love, the disagreements, The confusion and the exploration this new Expanded family aces.

Love this show, why hasn't it been renewed for season 2 yet?!

Love this show. Ellen Barkin's character rivals Archie Bunker as TV's greatest bigot! Any show that leaves right wingers spitting nails is a winner with me.

Being gay myself, I think some stereotypes are too obvious and even unreal. The only thing going for the show is the grandmother who is hilarious with her quotes. The show needs some more really funny jokes instead of repeating always the same old things.
I was even suprised that the show receives a whole season! I thought that after three or four episodes it would've been cancelled.

If this becomes Normal than the country is doomed. Shame on NBC for showing this unadulterated garbage You want to know why there is a crisis in the family structure ? Drivel like this pushed by TV executives with deranged personal lives can be watched by young kids in their formative years. Pathetic

Very disappointing that this show is even remotely successful.

Seems to me that Bub does not have a funny bone in his body. The show is hysterical. The grandmother, who is the most bigoted person, actually has some funny one liners that keep you in the show.

So glad this show will go on! As much as its "politically incorrect" and bigoted it brings to light all the stuff people think but would never say outloud, myself included, it just makes me laugh!
