ABC has cancelled Private Practice after deciding not to order the back nine episodes of the current sixth season, which will now be 13 episodes in length. The medical drama, originally spun off of the still-going-strong Grey's Anatomy, has aired over 100 episodes since premiering in 2007.

this is crazy. u keep shows on that are stupid. like some of the wed. night shows that u say are funny. really!!!!!!private practice is a great show.i have been watching since day one and have not missed a show ever.i am heart broken simply heart broken.

This news sickens me!!! Why is ABC cancelling all of the good shows? First the soaps now this!! WTH is ABC thinking. I think a boycott is in order.

I agree with all the other comments! This ridiculous!!! I have been watching Private Practice from day 1 and I love it. So what are they gonna do replace it with some STUPID reality show!? I can't stand reality! Bring back my drama. What a bad choice for ABC!!!

I guess ABC's goal is to get rid of all of their good long running shows and replace them with crap! First it's the daily soaps we watched for years and now it's the weekly ones we watch at night. This is the last straw for me. Private Practice is one of the very few decent shows left on. I HATE REALITY TV! After the season ends I'm shutting off my cable. Hell I can rent movies for a dollar!!!

I am stunned to hear the news of the cancellation! I'm sick in bed, catching up on my season of Private Practice (after watching the hilarious and heartbreaking episode of Charlotte an her pregnancy) to learn the show is slamming to a halt Jan 22!! ABC has always had my loyalty in the shows they run but thi disappointment is shocking. Shame on you network, hope you take an unfavorable hit from this asinine decision!!!

I am so sick and tired of enjoying a show and then finding that some executives in the network decide to cancel it. I think it is time to just stop watching network tv. I can find plenty of shows on cable, so I give up on network. How long will they last if they have no viewers.

The least you could do is finish out the season!! I've been watching since the 1st episode...I think the veiwers deserve the final season! What is wrong with you ABC? I don't think I will be watching any of your new shows and will stop watching the ones I already watch on ABC becuase at least it will be on my terms and not some surprise canceling of a show that I love!!It's not like Private Practice just started, it's been on for many seasons and deserves a final season!!

I agree with Janet - Private Practice appeals to all ages - my 3 daughters in their 20's, me in my 50's, and my mom in her 70's. We're all very bummed it's been canceled and hope ABC changes its mind.

Wow! Unbelievable. What a terrible decision to cancel this show. I will have to agree with other commentators, time to switch to a different network.

Wake up ABC !!!! Many people I know love Private Practice it is a great show.You canel the best
