ABC has cancelled Private Practice after deciding not to order the back nine episodes of the current sixth season, which will now be 13 episodes in length. The medical drama, originally spun off of the still-going-strong Grey's Anatomy, has aired over 100 episodes since premiering in 2007.

I am so bummed to read this, I was just looking to see if it was on tonight and saw the comments about it being cancelled soon. I love this show but I must have bad taste because I loved Boston Legal, Desparate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters and they all got cancelled too soon too. Grey's is headed that direction I think too since Mc Steamy got killed off. I guess I'll just have to watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune like my grandma, at least they will still be around...lol!

I could never get into this one. I loved Greys but I never even watched those cross-over shows.

Not a shocker. I am shocked it lasted 5 years to be honest.

The actress who plays Addison has already quit the show before it was cancelled. She decided to leave after the 13 episodes, so they don't see a reason to keep going without her.

This show is so great! It's one of the only good ones left on tv. It's so refreshing not having to listen to foul language like cable shows have. Why can't they finish out the season?? It makes no sense at all. It doesn't say much for the network. At least let us find out what happens in the end!!!

I truly don't get why a lot of people love this show?
This show truly how much of a "Slut" Addison is.
Think about it. In Grey's she cheated on McDreamy for McSteamy. Then leaves Seattle for LA to help her best friend with her business and marriage. Only later on, Not only does Addison sleep with almost all the men that worked in that Clinic, but she sleeps and has a relationship with her best friends husband/ex.
Common!
I seriously think that those people that love this show, is either having marital problems or had marital problems.
I also believe that they just love seeing people having affairs left and right - just like in grey's anatomy.
What has our society gone too? But then again, this society is all about sex and lies!

thats total bull!!!! it just got sooooo good especially with charlotte expecting triplettes!!! please dont cancel this show i love it and i know alot of other people do to.

This wasn't my favorite show, but why cancel now? The season just started! If you weren't behind the show, then wrap it up in May and buy a pilot to put in its place instead of showing a couple episodes, then giving it a quick axe. I hope they at least tie up the loose ends for the fans that stick around to the end. ABC doesn't do a good job of wrapping up canceled shows, like The River last year and Eastwick back in 09 for example. ABC is my least favorite network because of stuff like this.
