The sci-fi series will return in summer 2014.
July 29, 2013
CBS announced today that its new sci-fi drama Under the Dome has been renewed for a second season. The freshman summer series has been pulling in solid ratings since its premiere last month, making it an easy decision for the network to issue today's pickup for another 13 episodes in summer 2014.
It was also announced that Stephen King, who penned the bestselling novel of the same name, will write the premiere episode for Season 2.
UPDATE: Season 2 of Under the Dome will premiere on Monday, June 30, 2014.

I like the series a lot, but do not significant divergence from the book. However, given SK's role as executive producer, it seems to me he would ensure the series retains a certain integrity with the book. The book itself was fantastic...let's hope this series follows suit. I will be following each episode of course lol

Kevin the situation does get resolved in the book and so far it is not close to what is portrayed. I like your idea about another king show how about the dark tower series?

There have been several interviews in which Stephen King said the series was going to be different than the book, that they used it as more of a jumping off point. The producers said that where the book resolved after a couple of days, those in the series were going to be there a lot longer, months maybe, and that in the end the resolution was likely to be entirely different than the one in the book.

UGH !!!! I read the book and it was great but the only thing this show has in common with the book is the DOME and that they use the same character names as the book. Otherwise, it is nothing like the book. In fact most of the characters personalities are nothing like the book describes. The fact that there will be a season 2 sucks because that means that there is no resolution at the end of this season. I'm just watching this show out of curiosity as to where it is going because even if you read the book there is no way to know what will happen next. The show in my head (as I read the book) was much better than the one on CBS.

I did read the book when it came out a few years ago and there are differences. The news that there will be a 2nd season is confusing. I do not see how it can be renewed when the book finalizes everything. I don't want to give the ending away but another season makes no sense. If King is writing the 1st episode that means it will be a new story line. Maybe it can be called...... After the Dome....

I've read the book. Interesting! I was looking forward to this show being a mini-series and wrapping up at the end of 13 episodes. Now--another season! This show will get boring fast without a resolution.

Wat. I thought this was a "mini-series"? That's what it was originally advertised as. How'd this turn into a full blown show?
