September 3, 2013
HBO announced today that after seven seasons on the air, True Blood will be concluding its run. The show's previously-announced seventh season of 10 episodes will premiere in summer 2014.
By the time the final episode of True Blood is broadcast next year, the show will have aired a total of 80 episodes over six years, of which during that time it was consistently one of HBO's most popular series.

It only makes sense they finally end this series in light of the fact that the author of the books also published and released the final book this past May. It was getting pretty stupid especially LAST season. GLAD DA VINCI BIT THE DUST GOOD RIDDANCE

Da Vinci Demons was already renewed after 1st airing. I think True Blood is ready to wrap up after that last season. Still trying to figure out the purpose of last season.

Been watching since day one. It has had its ups and downs. I was not really thrilled with this past season. At least they can wrap it up though. I am not really surprised they decided to end it. It lasted longer than most shows on cable.

That steaming pile known as Da Vinci's Demons was cancelled too. :)

This is unfortunate. The series was picking up again. I don't know why they're going to only do ten episodes though, I think they should do a twelve episodes or have longer episodes to wrap up the series. :(

Well, this just ruined my day. First, The Borgia's is cancelled, then they are ending Dexter this year, now True Blood? The only thing I have left to look forward to now is Game of Thrones and Da Vinci's Demons.
True Blood was the first love for me. It immediately blew me away and still does. I mean they have no problem cancelling stuff I like if the ratings are down. But, having to put up with them cancelling a top rated series, that is too much. It will be difficult for me to look forward to True Blood next year.
I am eternally grateful, though, they are going to spend a season wrapping it up, instead of suddenly cancelling it with everything up in the air, which happens far too often.

6 or 7 season is about average for most shows. It has to end sometime.

They could of at least brought it back to the usual 12eps for the final season. The only reason they had 10 for S6 was because of Anna's real life pregnancy.
All shows seem to short with only 10ep in a season. As did S6 did.
