CBS has renewed The Mentalist for a seventh season. The once-ratings heavyweight has seen its viewership dip in recent years, falling to series lows in Season 6, which concludes May 18.
It is rumored that the show will return for one final season of 13 episodes, short of its typical order of 22 or more.

I'm actually a bit surprised it got renewed at all. The show lost it's sparkle once it moved from CBI to FBI and is not longer set in Sacramento. I was glad the Red John storyline was finally resolved, but they didn't need to change EVERYTHING. Totally lost interest a couple episodes into this season.

Props to CBS for giving the show a chance to go out on its own. The writer's get to finish the story. We has viewers get to know the characters and its great they will have closure and we get an end to the story.

I was sure this would be cancelled when it wasn't picked up with the whole CBS batch earlier this year. I'm glad it will get a short run to close out the show. Hopefully the writers will do justice to what has been a very good and entertaining show.

Although I do miss the excitement I once had for this show with the Red John storyline, I am glad it has been renewed. I think they have done fairly well this season, considering the drastic changes they made. I'm excited to see how it will conclude.

Contrary to the other statements here, we liked the new direction of the mentalist after the dragged out a bit too long, red john storyline. Glad to see the show come back, therefore those stating anything to the contrary are WRONG.

This was an awesome show.....until Red John was found. The series should have ended there. The network, in all it's greedy glory tried to milk the cash cow too long while cancelling some more than adequate replacement shows.
