The drama ends after one season.
August 7, 2014
ABC announced today that summer series Black Box has been cancelled after one season. The mental illness drama aired 13 episodes between April and July but struggled to draw significant viewership over the course of its run. Its premiere episode garnered a healthy 1.5 in the adults 18-49 demographic, but numbers fell to less than half that by the time its finale aired.

Jan/2015 Taped this show and have just seen it. I can not believe it has been cancelled when one sees all the Trash that is aired daily. With the Stigma of Mental Health this was so enlightening and dealt with in a humane way. I guess the intelligent viewers don't have much say here!

Dear network,
I'm devastated by the cancelation of Blackbox. Kelly Reilly
had such a handle on the character, she was amazing. When
you only show a minimal amount episodes May to July,
it takes time to for viewers to catch on. You didn't really
give it a chance. Please reconsider your decision, the show
is phenomenal! Please bring it back, your ratings guide didn't
even show viewers over 50. We do watch it. There are too
many reality shows, please bring back the drama. Give it
one more chance.

Wow, I wrote a comment a few weeks ago and that got cancelled! It's strange how your complaint about a show doesn't get posted. I guess I didn't speak to their liking. Anyway I wrote about intelligence, believe, suburgatory and black box being cancelled. I'm also pissed that extant is gone as well as soon as the shows start getting good, there gone! Who gets to make the ratings scales? I'm curious. Anyway I hope you will rethink these cancelled shows and at least provide a better explanation as to why there gone! It seems shows with substance is the first to go! Not enough reality hoopla I guess. Sorry to loose such great shows in my opinion!

Ellie, I can see in your multiple entries that you are indeed passionate about this subject of mental illness.
But what in heck does this have to do with whether this show is entertainment worthy? I only watched a couple of episodes and found them gloomy and bland.
I'm looking for good entertainment. If I wish for strictly information or social enlightenment, I would watch the news or a documentary channel.

Thank you Justin and Beverly. I am VERY passionate about this subject, and I appreciate positive feedback for my words other than the haters out there who probably have no clue what these depressive illnesses are all about. I hope another station picks up the shows after all the notes that have been written on it's behalf. At least finish the series with another season or a few more episodes. It really left us wondering. <3

This show was absolutely AWESOME! Kelly Reilly did a great job. The network is positively stupid for cancelling this show. It was one of the best shows out there.

Nicely said Ellie, it's a great show that shouldn't have been canceled.
