The new comedy has been pulled from the network's schedule.
August 20, 2014
Freshman comedy Working the Engels has been cancelled after one season. The Canadian-based series, which starred Andrea Martin, was a collaboration between U.S. and Canadian entities - the first of its kind for a sitcom.
NBC pulled Working the Engels from its schedule today, cutting its debut run short after just five episodes. Canadian broadcaster Global Television, which aired season one in its entirety earlier this year, announced that the show has been cancelled up north as well, citing low ratings as the primary reason.

The Ford sisters who wrote and produced this should change careers.

There are wayyyyyy better Canadian shows than this... I am surprised they would not pick up on Mr. D.
Heck even the Trailer Park Boys should get better exposure, in the US. It does have a solid cult following.
Anyone know if Netflix US will be picking up the new seasons of TPB? Seasons 8 & 9 are coming soon to Netflix Canada :)

I was glad to see Andrea Martin again. Very funny Second City Alum. Just not a very good story premise and poor writing. I have watched all the aired episodes. I can now remove it from my DVR scheduler.

First episode was pretty funny and good soundtrack. Went south fast.

No, it just wasn't funny. Most of the jokes fell flat.
The only thing I liked was that there was no laugh track.

Shame they picked THAT series for the first effort... there are much better Canadian sitcoms they could have chosen.

This was the best new comedy I had seen in a while. I think it just didn't have a good time slot or publicity.
