The new drama will not return for Season 2.
May 7, 2015
ABC has decided not to continue with Forever, cancelling the freshman drama after one season. The news broke this evening on Twitter from star Ioan Gruffod's wife, actress Alice Evans. The show aired its finale on Tuesday.
Forever got off to a decent start last fall, earning a full season pickup in November after a month of healthy, if not spectacular, ratings. Unfortunately viewership started to dwindle in recent months and failed to pick back up to a level that would warrant a renewal from the network.

ABC has lost its fricking mind. Cancels a wonderful show like this and RENEWS Galavant? Seriously? I guess not all the idiots are in DC running things.

I liked it better than Elementary (same type of show.) Too bad it's gone.

Bittersweet news to me. I swore off network TV nearly three years ago but became interested in this series during a visit with my daughter last fall. Hate to see it go but at least I got my Tuesday nights back now.

I don't feel so bad about it being canceled as the one season it aired kinda flows like complete story arc and can stop where it did. Were there threads that could have been picked up on and questions left to be answered for later seasons? Absolutely. But I just think back to the final scene and when he says "it's going to take a long time" (or whatever he told her exactly) I could picture in my mind sappy music and ending credits starting like the ending of a movie. I liked the show and would have liked for it to have continued, but I can be all right with this.
It's not as bad as, say, Awake or Helix, two shows I also liked and got axed.

Disappointing. The show was really starting to grow on me. My husband loved it from the start. It was charming and interesting and you really cared about the characters.

Your also right Steve you over 49 count. Sorry for the one dimensional seniors crack. Just so frustrated with the way these networks do this crap. It is just one show I get it but these ratings are bs. Your right all about advertising sales. I know that's how the networks make the money but they have the power to tell the companies look this show is gold this is the one you advertise on or we'll push someone else's products. Those ratings put people your age in a Grey's anatomy and Chicago pd category. Cop and med shows.

Oh and thanks for pointing that out Steve I love the super hero movies but that show is a snoozer. But Disney owns ABC and Marvel. So that answers that.

Bs bs bs. Bring on another stupid traditional cop show. This show was great and original. Well when the only people watching regular old t.v. these days are one dimensional seniors that just don't get it. Look at the other networks nothing but cop and medical dramas. Backstrom is a good original one too. If you like the cops and robbers shows these were the good ones. Go watch your predictable Chicago pd. Bs bs bs . Sorry me and the wife DVR our favourites and that's how we get our entertainment. We're in our early 30s and these shows were good ones
