The new drama will not return for Season 2.

NBC has cancelled freshman series State of Affairs after one season. The Katherine Heigl-led drama failed to make much of a ratings impact over its 13-episode season that concluded back in February.

Sad to see this show cancelled. Had terrible time slot by competing against NFL Monday Night Football. Move it to another night, and it would have had better ratings.

It was a great show, even with Katherine. They could have killed her off and replaced her with a good actor or actress.
At least it is better than most of NBC's failures. ABC and NBC is like the old Big 3 car companies. They know they can't be #1 and the are just trying to keep ahead of ABC

Absolutely terrible show and sow happy they canceled this garbage.
Why does NBC still think they can politically charged shows on, that only makes 1 side look good and the other look bad.
Call me stupid... but I stopped watching after the 2nd episode just couldn't stand it.

Unbelievable hateful comments directed toward Katherine Heigl. Bunch of misogynists, no doubt, unaware of their woman-phobia. Hope they remember they came from mothers.
Sorry to see the series go. It was mostly very intelligent but not flawless. Would be a good fit for cable or streaming. Maybe it gets another chance elsewhere. NBC is run by screw-ups. No heart or guts in the schedule. What are they? Twelve year-olds?

Looks like most of the shows that were not axed are reality shows. Apparently most Americans are not smart enough to follow a plot.

@Aly yeah it did end w/a cliffhanger, but I don't want to spoil it for you in case you decide to watch the remaining episodes. I... myself would have liked to see how this all turned out, but won't get a chance now :( Its just like the show "Missing" w/Ashley Judd, left you in suspense (not on NBC though on another network), only later to find out the show was canceled...that really sucks writer, producers, tv execs, etc.

Not sure how or why Katherine Heigl continues to get work. A real mystery to me.
