No Season 2 for the new drama.
June 15, 2015
It is being reported that A&E has cancelled The Returned after one season. The freshman drama aired 10 episodes this spring but failed to draw significant ratings for the cable network.
The Returned was an adaptation of the 2012 French series Les Revenants. Even though that show premiered three years ago, it will be returning for a second season this fall. Another American series with a similar premise, Resurrection, was also cancelled last month after two seasons on ABC.

such a shame when an original show doesn't get a fair chance, so sick of reality shows and the never ending versions of cop shows i'm watching less and less tv!

Ed Gordon that's the dumbest thing I've ever read. Never watched an episode and knew it was going to be cancelled. Just the idea alone was horrible.

I'm not surprised. That was one of the worst season finales I have ever seen.

Reason why they cancelled it was to make Bates Motel have 2 more seasons.

not surprised everything is getting cancelled I'm sticking to other things now like netflix and whats left of the few ongoing series.

Figures. I only watched a couple eps, but it did not even compare to the original French show. Normally I get annoyed by reading subtitles the whole time, but it didn't even bother me because the French show was so good!
Similar situation with Broadchurch (Gracepoint). The US should just stop remaking shows and let the original, great ones be.

@ Ed Gordon:
Polish your argument, and start a kickstarter to fund the suit, and I'll contribute. (Its not that I was such a die hard fan for this particular show, but I agree that investing hours and hours into a story that will never have an ending when its absolutely in the power of the uathors to be clear one way or the other approaches a kind of intellectual abuse.)
@ networks:
I subscribe, but I don't have to. I get netflix and cable with premium tiers. Most of the content doesn't suit me, so its already a ragged edge of getting my money's worth. Drop Nielsen and put a chip into my reciever so you can monitor exactky what and when I and everyone else watches - I'll pay for my own chip just to ensure I'm counted. You have 15 years of me as a middle class male aged 18-49 yet, make the most of it.

A&E did it again. After all the anger of Longmire and others getting cancelled they haven't learned a thing. What a bunch of idiots.

That sucks! I'm to the point where I'm not even going to watch a show that I may be interested in till its been on at least 3 seasons and binge watch it. Over the last 3 years A LOT of good shows were not even given a chance. This is the land of reality tv and cop and medical dramas I guess
