The drama will sign off after Season 7.
February 7, 2016
CBS confirmed today what many have been anticipating for some time. The Good Wife will be concluding after this season. Speculation about the veteran drama's impending end began picking up steam when in January, creators Robert and Michelle King announced they would be stepping down from the series at season's end. Also in January, star Julianna Margulies raised eyebrows when she stated she would be unemployed come April.
The network made it official in a promo spot that aired during the Super Bowl, promoting the show's last nine episodes and confirming this as the final season. The following release was also issued shortly afterwards:
It's never easy to say goodbye to one of the crown jewels of your network and studio, much less to a show that is among the best on television. But it also feels very right to end with the seven-year story its creators envisioned, and to celebrate the show's final run while at the top of its creative game. It has been CBS' sincere privilege to broadcast and produce The Good Wife for seven extraordinary seasons. We thank and applaud the outstanding cast, led by the impeccable Julianna Margulies, and the consummate writing and producing team, headed by the brilliant Robert and Michelle King, who brought to life a smart, sophisticated series that has delivered audiences so many memorable characters and unforgettable moments. It is a series that will only grow in prestige as its episodes are watched again or discovered by new viewers for many years to come.
The series finale of The Good Wife will air on Sunday, May 8. The show ends after seven seasons and over 150 episodes.

with a name like that , who would have thought it would do as well as it did? yet, it made through seven seasons. That's no easy feat in todays tv world.

@bub, you could have saved yourself and others time by stopping your post after "I never watched this...". How can you have anything to add with no reference...?

@bub, you should try a few episodes.
Lots of twists and turns. Really smart and sophisticated dialogue. Sharp-witted gladiatorial court cases.
It was never just about a meek little wife.

It had a good run. It's a huge thing for a show to hit the 5th season mark (aka 100 episodes) so for this show to be on it's 7th is a good accomplishment.

I never watched this... but I do find the bait and switch viewers put up with quite funny. It started as a show about a politician's wife and how she dealt with her sleazy politician husband.. then somewhere it became the same old same old legal drama -- was there *really* anything different about this than any other legal drama? .... and viewers swallowed it up. But again, I never watched this, so I admit this is just an uneducated opinion from someone that only viewed the advertisements and saw maybe 20 minutes of one or two episodes at some point.

I will admit for the last six season the good wife was good, but this season, I can see why the show is going be cancelled because it totally SUCK!. Goodbye The Good Wife.

After the last episode where she was sued for malpractice after failing to sue the judge, I didn't like where it was taking her. From an offer to rejoin the firm as a senior partner just a couple months ago to now a junior partner offer. It's off my pvr now anywa.

This season has been boring. Peter running for President was dumb. Grace helping her mom run the new firm was interesting. That's about it.

The show died when they killed Will. Margulies was never really likeable. Diane and Eli are amazing and definitely the characters who carried the show. I'll miss them.

Loved this show up until this season its been to choppy and weird this season for me. I will stick with it to the end because I love Julianna. I hope she picks up another show soon because the gap from ER to Good Wife was too long!!
