Another season may still be in the cards.
May 16, 2016
Fox announced its schedule for the upcoming 2016-2017 season today, and notably absent was another edition of The X-Files, which was revived earlier this year after 13 years off the air. During the network's upfront press call, however, Fox TV Group executives offered fans some hope that the series may still return for another season.
Speaking on interest by the creator and cast, it was noted that Chris Carter, David Duchovny, and Gillian Anderson were all up for another installment. Speculation for a return time frame was even stated, with the 2017-2018 season tentatively eyed for new episodes.
For now, though, fans will have to patiently wait until a final decision is made. And that news might not come for some time. Stay tuned...

I loved the X-Files when it started,2 hip young FBI agents investigating the unknown but now I think their time has come and gone.

1st - if you haven't even watched it, why are you making a comment. 2nd - I thought it was great that they were able to revive the characters flawlessly. And they remembered to keep the humor alive. I didn't realize how much I missed it, until it was back and I was waiting for another new one. I hope it lives on a little longer.

What's that " Carter, Duchovny, and Anderson are all "up" for making money.. how odd is that??? Of COURSE they are up for it. It's the most profitable thing any of the 3 have ever done.. well, maybe Californication did well for Duchovny. Just love the "spin" -- "up for it" as in "do you want more money" Is anyone saying no to that if they personally get along wit those they work with??

I loved this show when it was airing and was super excited when it came back, although I'm not too surprised it's not in this season. Of the 6 episode run, there were 2 that were awesome, 2 were ok, and 2 were total garbage, especially the one with Mulder high as a kite, what were they thinking?

Jason As for your comment "the last 6 eps were awesome!" 3 eps were very good and the other 3 were the biggest load of crap I have seen for a long time.

I'd rather wait a few years than get a whole bunch of rushed episodes.

I agree with Stefan that I don't want to wait 2 years for a couple of years but I really didn't think the newest episodes were all that great.3 or 4 were ok.That comedic one flat out stunk.
