The Omen follow-up will not return for Season 2.
May 20, 2016
It was announced today that A&E has cancelled Damien after its first season. Series creator Glen Mazzara posted the bad news on Twitter this afternoon, citing low ratings as the reason for the show not continuing.
The drama aired a short 10-episode run between March and May on Monday nights, but failed to draw a significant audience.

There is no way you could tell that the show was a stinker 15 minutes in.You better go back and watch Honey Boo Boo reruns.

it was only on their channel and primarily surrounding Bate Motel airings. You didn't miss anything. I thought the show was stinker form 15 minutes into the pilot.

@Jennifer Really? On multiple networks or just their own? I never saw a single advertisement for it and I watch a lot of TV, although I don't watch anything on A&E so if they only advertise on their own channel then I could see why I missed it.

Damien was such a great show, I was really looking forward to a season 2. If I wasn't told about this show I never would have known it was on. The show was not advertised at all!! I ever watched A&E before Damien aired, and if it's not brought back I won't be watching go this station again. #BringbackDamien #SaveDamien #A&Esucks #Damienseason2

As a fan of the original movie, I definitely would have checked this out if I knew about it. I blame bad advertising (or no advertising) for this cancellation. Every other show mentioned on this site lately, weather it was renewed or canceled, I have heard of. This one I didn't even know existed. If they did any advertising at all, fans of the original movie would have tuned in, and ratings would have been much better I'm sure.

I'm bummed this was cancelled. After a very slow start, the latter part of the season was excellent. The finale set up what would have been a great second season premise.
It seems like the story of my life though: I enjoy a new genre show and it inevitably gets cancelled far too early.

This was a good show, if you like shows that take the time to develop characters and stories. It was a show that made you use your brain and think about the meaning of what is going on, it didn't just hand you everything. The problem is, American TV is an extension of the current American Culture, people want everything done now and handed to them without any kind of effort involved. No, you didn't get instant gratification with Damien, you had to watch and learn and be patient as the characters and story evolved. It's hard to think that some of our most classic shows would never have survived in today's TV world.
