The Omen follow-up will not return for Season 2.
May 20, 2016
It was announced today that A&E has cancelled Damien after its first season. Series creator Glen Mazzara posted the bad news on Twitter this afternoon, citing low ratings as the reason for the show not continuing.
The drama aired a short 10-episode run between March and May on Monday nights, but failed to draw a significant audience.

I just watched the first 2 episodes and I think it would have been a decent show.If it isn't cops or doctors most Americans can't comprehend it.

It's sad that networks give up on shows without letting them grow over time.
I'm really getting tired of getting invested in a show and then never getting an ending. From now on I'll just let a show go until it's run ends, then watch on Netflix.

Although this show was slow and developed at a snails pace I still watched it. A&E has become the ABC of Cable Networks. I have given up on ABC for the very same reason they prefer to show cheap nonsense either reality or low budget and when they get a show that has a good script and cast they cancel like they just did with The Family. They made an effort to tie up loose ends but what they ended up doing was create a solid base for a season two with excellent possibilities. But that's gone too.

Did anyone really think this was going to be a good idea for a show? I wish I had connections because I could write some garbage pitches and scripts if that was the case.

When it comes to A&E, I agree with most of Mat's comments. As for Damien, it was boring and flat, unlike Walking Dead, Fear of the Walking Dead, The Originals, Vampire Diaries, Penny Dreadful just to name a few. I stopped watching after 5 episodes in because I knew cancellation of Damien was inevitable. I watch 2 shows on A&E, The First 48 and Bates Motel. And, even Bates Motel is getting old. The last episode of season 4 (just aired) is the perfect time to bring the show to its conclusion. Look at A&E's lineup, that alone is a horror show.

This show sucked from the first episode. Anyone who watched more than that only has their own poor taste to blame if you feel slighted by this cancelation. This REALLY should have never been green lit to start with. The instant they needed to use flashbacks tot eh 1976 movie.. I knew it was crapola.

No one watch's A&E for good scripted television. The few that have tried have all been burned. Fans of Breakout Kings, Longmire, and The Glades to name a few. People swear off the channel cause it happens to all their scripted shows no matter how great or worthwhile they are. The channel has become a cesspool of reality shows and their are people who just eat them up I'm not one but at least some peoples shows aren't getting cancelled. It's best to just avoid A&E if you like scripted shows.
Most people don't know but Disney owns I think half of A&E but they don't run it in anyway and don't for obvious reasons want their name attached to the serial scripted show canceller.

Damien is an awesome show. The only reason you didn't get ratings is because it was on so late at night no one knew about it.Sci fi shows at the cinemas are the ones that take in the money and yet there not given s proper go on tv. Very disappointed.

That's the last time I bother to give an A&E show a chance again.
